Personal Stock Monitor can track securities in multiple markets simultaneously by supporting a wide variety of publicly available quote servers.
For the benefit of new users, PSM includes an interactive tour guide that introduces key features of the software.

The software includes an advanced flexible alerts system which you can set to notify you of events that interest you. Simple alerts can be set using the drop down menus. More complicated alerts can be defined using a free form expression system. For instance, using this free form alert system, you could ask PSM to send an email to your cellphone when a ticker reaches within 10% of it's 52 week high.

The main columnar views in Personal Stock Monitor which are Active Securities, Current Holdings and Transactions, can be highly customized to just display the data that you need in the order you like. You can then save a particular view into a profile for easy retrieval later. 

PSM features an advanced technical charting package that enables you to add overlays, also called annotation sets, to a chart. These annotation sets can consist of text, lines, circles, squares and arrows and are saved in at the tick location where they are drawn so if the chart period or duration is changed or the chart is loaded some time later, the annotations will appear in the correct place. For training, the software supports saving out multiple different annotations sets per chart for easy retrieval later.

The technical analysis charting package included with Personal Stock Monitor supports a number of the most popular technical indicators. Similar to column views and chart annotations, groups of technical indicators and their settings can be saved into profiles which can then be easily selected from a dropdown menu on the chart. 

PSM supports opening up to 20 charts simultaneously. Open charts can be arranged so that they appear in the same positions and sizes when the software is restarted.
One small but very useful feature is the % line height display. If you draw a line on a chart and hover your mouse over it, the tooltip will show you the % change represented by the two end points of the line.

Unlike many stock market applications available today, Personal Stock Monitor includes a complete transaction register where you can record your purchases, sales, dividend reinvests, short sales, etc. All the popular transaction types are supported.

If you enter your transactions into the Personal Stock Monitor transaction register, the current holdings view will recalculate the sum total unrealized gain or loss of your account with each tick giving you a live updated view of your performance. In addition, PSM includes an asset allocation chart which makes it easy to see if you have a proper portfolio asset allocation.

New with Personal Stock Monitor 8, live trade execution through select brokerage partners is now supported! Submit buy, sell, sell short, and buy to cover transactions and receive realtime status and confirmation directly in the software. 

The Live Order History tab displays the most recent 60 days of trading activity and allows you to edit or request cancel of pending orders. Once orders have been filled, with a simple right click, the order can be turned into a transaction in the transaction register so that it's reflected in the gain/loss calculations.
