Hi Randi,

Yes, it looks like the only way to do it is the way you are suggesting, in order to keep it as simple for me as possible. Without having to recalculate anything.

The reason why I would rather not do it that way is because when I scan the transaction register tab, in the "type" column, I prefer to see "buy" and reinvest dividends as separate types. And NOT reinvested dividends as showing up as a "buy". Because that way I can easily scan the register, and see when I missed inputing a monthly or quarterly dividend.

With as many stocks as we hold, dividend reinvestment transactions are hard to keep up on inputing. If new stock buys and reinvested dividend buys have the same name, i.e. "Buy", then it makes it harder to spot missed DRIPs.

It became obvious really quickly that the way I was doing it was almost like inputing the dividend twice. So still do not understand what the "Reinvest Div" field was originally designed for?
