Yermo,
Good morning, still on the annual performance measure.
I am not really a computer guy I am an investor guy, but I think I found a great path for what I think can be the solution.
The whole thing comes from an excel add-in created by a guy named Randy Harmelink This add-in contains a number of user defined functions for EXCEL that can allow data to be extracted and/or retrieved from the web and placed directly into EXCEL cells or ranges.
The whole documentation and explanation in well stored in yahoo group, which you have to join to know a little more about the syntaxes, etc….
The web location for the group is described below
http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/smf_addin/
The "Files" area for the group contains the add-in, documentation on its functions, and a number of templates that have examples of how the various functions can be used. The "Links" area of the group has a number of tips and FAQ. I attached The add in itself and an example of the portfolio comparison with the S&P that I found (is not the one that I like but is the beginning).
You can have a little more information on the issue on
http://www.oldschoolvalue.com/investment-tools/investme... where you can find even an spreadsheet example for stock performance that I email you
But the best one is on the yahoo group
Best regards
Sergio
